ADMISSIONS POLICY

Wesleyan Academy’s mission is, “to encourage and enable students to pursue a redeemed life of personal faith in Jesus Christ, marked by a lifestyle of service and leadership, developed in the context of a Christian, English language, college preparatory education in Grades Pre Pre Kinder through Twelve.”

We are interested in students who are motivated to learn, who are strong in character, and who are amenable to the highest quality of Christian instruction. Programs at Wesleyan Academy are designed to meet the needs of students who are average or above average in ability and achievement.

Admission Standards

Based upon the admissions philosophy statement, Wesleyan Academy’s admission standards are designed to identify students who:

1. Evidence good conduct and have the ability to maintain the school’s discipline standards.

2. Demonstrate average or above average aptitude and/or achievement

3. Are socially and emotionally well adjusted

4. Are amenable to correction and instruction

5. Want to attend Wesleyan Academy

6. Are motivated to learn

7. Have parents who are supportive of the Academy’s Mission, Statement of Faith, Core Values, and Wesleyan Pledge.

8. Have parents who will meet their financial obligation to Wesleyan Academy.

In addition, the Board of Trustees urges parents to recognize their scriptural responsibility (Deuteronomy 6:1-9, Psalm 78:5-6, Proverbs 22:6) to provide their children with a Christian education and that the primary responsibility for this task rests with the parents (Ephesians 6:4).

Wesleyan was founded to support the desires and commitment for Christian parents to enroll their children in an intentional Christian environment. Although the Board desires that every parent and student come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, a personal relationship with Him is not a pre-requisite for family admission. It is important for families to understand that in seeking enrollment in WA they are agreeing to educate their child in an intentional Christian environment and committing to supporting Wesleyan’s Mission, Statement of Faith and core values. WA stands firmly upon the historical truth-claims and moral foundations of Christianity.

Non Discriminatory Statement

The Academy does not discriminate in any of its policies, practices, or procedures on the basis of race, class, color, national origin, sex, or handicap as defined by law. It is the continuing aspiration of the sponsoring body, the administration, and the faculty and staff of WA to maintain the opportunity for students to receive an education which is truly dedicated to the glory of God and the betterment of humankind.
